Program for Children with Special Needs
As of 7/6/2021:
If your child requires 1 on 1 care or special attention in afterschool due to a diagnosed disability or special need… all spots are currently full. Please contact Ashley Stringer to request the wait list. Additional staff would need to be hired before we can add any more specialist spots.
|SBCPRD strives to provide quality individualized care for children with disabilities based on the specific needs of the child. The “Specialists” program is an inclusive program, which meets in conjunction with the “Our Time” and R.E.C.E.S programs. The “Specialists” program provides recreational and enrichment activities which allow children with disabilities to participate as they can, making adaptations and modifications to accommodate special needs. This program is designed for children in grades Pre-K though 5th with disabilities. Fees for this program are the same as “Our Time” and R.E.C.E.S.

Due to the nature of our exemption from State licensing for School Aged Children from Georgia Bright from the Start, all children must be potty trained before being allowed to participate in any Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Department child care programs. This includes AfterSchool Program, Camp Adventure, and Camp Cherokee Summer Camp. This department is not a daycare and does not have the proper diapering facilities or laundry to accommodate children who are not potty trained or that have accidents.
